The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has announced the National Gopal Ratna Awards (NGRA) 2025, one of India’s highest honours in the dairy and livestock sector.

This year’s results highlight the growing strength of dairy cooperatives, which continue to play a pivotal role in supporting farmers, improving indigenous breeds, and strengthening the rural economy.

In the Best Dairy Cooperative Society/Milk Producer Company/FPO category (Non-NER), Meenan Gadi Ksheerolpadaka Sahakarana Sangham, Wayanad (Kerala) secured the first rank. Two cooperatives-Kunnamkattupathy Ksheerolpadaka Sahakarana Samgham, Palakkad (Kerala) and Ghinoi Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Samiti, Jaipur (Rajasthan)-were jointly awarded the second rank, while TYSPL 37 Sendurai Milk Producers Cooperative Society, Tamil Nadu received the third rank.

From the Himalayan region, Kulha Duud Udpadhak Sahkari Samiti, Uttarakhand, was honoured for its contribution.

Awardees in the Dairy Farmer and Cooperative categories will receive Rs 5 lakh for 1st rank, Rs 3 lakh for 2nd rank, Rs 2 lakh for 3rd rank, and Rs 2 lakh for NER/Himalayan State special awards. In the AIT category, winners will receive certificates and mementos.

These awards will be presented on 26 November 2025 as part of the National Milk Day celebrations. A total of 2,081 applications were received this year.
