Nano Zinc not under consideration: Minister

“Currently, inclusion of Nano Zinc is not in contemplation of the Government of India”, said Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizers Bhagwanth Khuba while replying to a query raised by Rajya Sabha MP V Vijayasai Reddy.

Khuba said, “Subsequent to the inclusion of IFFCO Nano DAP in the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO)-1985, Nano DAP has been introduced in the market from April 2023. IFFCO has informed that Nano DAP is in liquid form while conventional DAP is in granular form”.

“Nano DAP is applied as Seed, Root and Foliar treatment while granular DAP is applied to the soil. Nano DAP has a use efficiency of 80-90 % under optimum conditions in comparison to 20-30% use efficiency of conventional DAP. Nano DAP is non-subsidized while conventional DAP comes under the NBS scheme”, said Khuba in his reply.

It further reads, IFFCO has further informed that Nano DAP helps in reducing consumption of conventional DAP, increases crop productivity and reduces subsidy burden. Nano DAP saves storage, warehousing and transportation costs as it is easy to carry and store. Application of Nano DAP has benefits in terms of better Soil, Air and Water”.

“MRP of one 500 ml bottle of IFFCO Nano DAP is Rs. 600/-, which is less than the price of a 50 kg bag of conventional DAP i,e. Rs. 1350/-“, reply concluded.
