Namvar Singh: IFFCO pays homage to departed soul

The fertilizer cooperative IFFCO paid homage to the renowned Hindi author and critic Namvar Singh who died in New Delhi on Tuesday night at the age of 92. Singh died at All India Institute of Medical sciences.

It is to be noted that IFFCO has constituted the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Lecture and Namvar Singh played an important role in it. A great supporter of IFFCO’s efforts to improve the lot of farmers, Namvar Singh used to participate in any literary function IFFCO requested him.

”In the age of globalization when farmers are compelled to commit suicides, IFFCO offers a ray of hope” had said Namvar Singh who delivered IFFCO’s 27th Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Lecture at the NCUI auditorium in Delhi”.

Singh gave Hindi literary criticism a new direction with his books such as “Chhayavaad”, “Itihas Aur Alochana”, “Kahaani Nayi Kahaani”, “Kavita Ke Naye Pratimaan”, “Dusri Parampara Ki Khoj”.

IFFCO MD, who is said to have enjoyed personal relationship with him was shocked at the news of his demise. Dr U S Awasthi tweeted “The renowned Hindi author Namvar Singh is no more. His demise is a personal loss to me. He was like a guardian whose love and affection I enjoyed since my college days. In the literary activities of IFFCO, we received his guidance. I bow down to his memory”.
