The Cooperative Election Authority (CEA) has approved the election of Nikita Jangid as the new Chairperson of the Nagpur City Multi-State Cooperative Credit Society Limited.
It is worth recalling that in the earlier election for the posts of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, Jitendra Wasnik, a two-term director, was elected unopposed as Chairperson. However, his nomination was later rejected by the CEA on the grounds of Section 44(2) of the MSCS Act, 2002, which bars an individual from holding the post for more than two consecutive terms.
Meanwhile, the nomination of Neha Wasnik, his wife, was approved, and she was declared Vice-Chairperson of the society.
Following the rejection of the Chairperson’s nomination, the CEA directed a fresh election, which was recently held. In this election, Nikita Jangid was elected unopposed as the new Chairperson of the society.
