The Rajasthan High Court has ruled that farmers cannot be denied benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana due to data entry mistakes on the National Crop Insurance Portal. Justice Kuldeep Mathur directed Nagaur Central Cooperative Bank to release admissible Kharif 2020 claims with interest within eight weeks, media reports say.

Farmers from Kamediya in Nagaur had paid premiums but were denied compensation after their Patwar area was wrongly uploaded as “Kherat”.

The High Level Committee had held the bank responsible, noting it collected service charges and handled portal entries. Dismissing the bank’s plea, the Court said farmers cannot suffer for clerical lapses, stressing the welfare objective of PMFBY.
