To commemorate the International Year of Cooperatives, the Nagaland Cooperative Conclave 2025 was held from 18–20 November 2025 in Kohima on the theme “Cooperatives – A Catalyst for Economic Transformation.”
The event was organised by the Department of Cooperation, Government of Nagaland, and concluded with a broad strategy aimed at strengthening cooperatives at all levels in the state.
The Conclave was inaugurated by Jacob Zhimomi, Minister for PHED & Cooperation. Senior officials from the Department of Cooperation and allied departments of the Government of Nagaland, along with representatives from NABARD, NCDC, NDDB, NCUI, NCEL, NCOL, BBSSL, APEDA, IFFCO, and various apex cooperative federations of Nagaland, addressed the gathering. Participants included cooperative members from all 16 districts, as well as students and faculty from universities and colleges.
Representing the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), Ritesh Dey, Executive Director, delivered a presentation on “Role of Youth in the Cooperative Movement in the Context of Nagaland.”
Addressing an audience of around 200 students and an equal number of cooperative members and officials, he highlighted opportunities for youth engagement in cooperative development. Drawing from the Nagaland Vision 2030, he presented a five-year roadmap on how youth can leverage the state’s abundant natural resources to promote cooperative entrepreneurship and generate employment.
The valedictory address was delivered by Orenthung Lotha, Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Nagaland. The Conclave concluded with several important recommendations aligned with Nagaland Vision 2030, aimed at accelerating cooperative growth and strengthening institutional frameworks across the state.
