A national-level consultative meeting on “Recent Trends in Short-Term Cooperative Credit & Banking Institutions” will be held today (Tuesday) in Gangtok, Sikkim, bringing together leaders from the country’s cooperative banking sector.
The event is being organised by the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks Ltd. (NAFSCOB) in collaboration with the Sikkim State Cooperative Bank Ltd. at Hotel Tashi Delek in Gangtok.
Chairpersons and chief executives of State Cooperative Banks (StCBs), District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs), and representatives from Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Agricultural Cooperative Staff Training Institutes (ACSTIs) from across the country are expected to attend the meeting.
The consultative session will deliberate on key policy and sectoral issues, including recommendations for the Union Budget 2026–27, highlights of the Economic Survey 2025–26, regulatory developments in cooperative banking, and the status of implementation of the revised revival package for the Short-Term Cooperative Credit Structure (STCCS).
A major highlight of the event will be the presentation of NAFSCOB Best Performance Awards to top-performing DCCBs, PACS and ACSTIs for the year 2024–25.
Senior cooperative leader Satish Marathe will attend the programme as the Guest of Honour.
The meeting will also discuss issues related to expanding access to short-term agricultural credit at subsidised interest rates and strengthening the cooperative banking network across India.
