Amid growing speculation, elections to the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks (Nafscob) are expected to be announced soon.
An outgoing director of Nafscob told Indian Cooperative that most procedural issues have been clarified and discussions are currently underway with the Cooperative Election Authority. “All major clarifications have been addressed. We are in touch with the Cooperative Election Authority and are hopeful that the election schedule will be announced shortly,” he said.
However, readers may recall that the Cooperative Election Authority had earlier advised Nafscob to amend certain provisions in its bye-laws before proceeding with the election process. It is understood that the required amendments may not have been fully carried out, which could potentially delay formal notification.
Despite this, insiders remain optimistic that a consensus will be reached soon, paving the way for the much-awaited polls to the apex body of state cooperative banks.
