Pankaj Kumar Prasad, Additional Managing Director, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED), along with Ranjan Kumar, Manager, NAFED, addressed a special session at the FPO Samagam 2025 on the theme “NAFED & FPO: Driving Farmer Empowerment through Retail.”
The session highlighted NAFED’s efforts to integrate Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) into the value chain through its expanding retail initiative, NAFED Bazaar.
Prasad emphasized that the franchise model offers FPOs a sustainable business opportunity to market local produce directly to consumers while ensuring better price realization for farmers.
He further noted that NAFED’s retail strategy aligns with the government’s broader vision of building a self-reliant rural economy by linking production with modern retail networks.
The initiative is expected to enhance employment, boost rural entrepreneurship, and create a nationwide cooperative retail ecosystem empowering farmers across India.
