NAFED has announced approval for the procurement of 9,023 metric tons of sunflower under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme in Karnataka, providing major relief to farmers during the Rabi 2026 season. The procurement operation is expected to ensure financial support of over Rs 69.66 crore to sunflower growers in the state.

The decision aims to protect farmers from market fluctuations and guarantee remunerative prices for their produce. NAFED said the move reflects the government’s continued commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural stability.

The cooperative body highlighted that the procurement initiative would help strengthen farmer confidence and support sustainable agricultural practices. Emphasising the importance of every crop and every cultivator, NAFED stated that MSP operations remain a crucial tool in safeguarding farmers’ interests and ensuring fair returns.

The initiative is expected to benefit a large number of sunflower growers across Karnataka during the ongoing procurement season.
