As per the figures coming at the desk of the Indian Cooperative, the agriculture cooperative Nafed is doing record-breaking procurement of Gram and Red Onion from different states of the country.
Nafed has procured red onions of more than 16k MT valuing of Rs 15.31 crore from the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat so far. The procured onion has been dispatched to Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala and others.
Whereas, in the ongoing procurement of Gram under Rabi Operation, Nafed procured 2.57 MT valuing of Rs 13.70 crore from the state of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The total number of farmers benefitted is 1,48,465.
Recently, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Ms Shobha Karandlaje had appreciated the efforts of agri cooperative Nafed for helping the onion farmers and stabilizing prices.
