As part of its ongoing celebrations, NABARD marked its 44th Foundation Day in Pune on Saturday in the presence of Union Minister of State for Cooperation Muralidhar Mohol.
In his speech, Mohol said, “Over the past several years, NABARD has been consistently contributing to rural development, women empowerment, agricultural innovation, and financial inclusion across India.”
“Under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), NABARD has extended financial support to nearly 8 lakh projects nationwide. These projects cover essential infrastructure such as irrigation systems, rural roads, schools, colleges, and primary health centres. This has significantly increased irrigation potential and aided state governments in enhancing public investment in rural areas,” he added.
Furthermore, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, concrete steps have been taken in recent years to build a self-reliant rural India, with NABARD playing a crucial role.
NABARD has also been instrumental in the digitization of over 67,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across the country, a move that has led to substantial improvements in their operational efficiency and transparency.
The event was attended by Praveen Darade, Principal Secretary, Department of Cooperation, Government of Maharashtra, Deepak Taware, Commissioner for Cooperation, Rashmi Darad, Chief General Manager, NABARD; Govardhan Singh Rawat, along with NABARD officials, cooperation department representatives, and delegates from cooperative banks.
