Financial Express reports Nabard has infused so far Rs. 1.46 lakh crore in the current year in the rural banking system to ensure credit flow into agriculture and other economic activities in the countryside.
The bank says it has given Rs. 87,069 crore to cooperative banks and regional rural banks in the form of short-term refinance while long-term refinance of Rs 59,502 crore had been given to the banks and other financial institutions.
Sources say the infusion of so much money by Nabard will immensely encourage development in the rural areas.
