Multi-purpose co-ops’ MDs booked in Odisha

The Vigilance in Jeypore division in Koraput in Odisha has booked 37 managing directors of large area multi-purpose cooperative societies (LAMPS) on charges of financial fraud to the tune of Rs 4 crore committed through bogus paddy procurement bills, reports Odishatv.in

The police say after an investigation into allegations of misappropriation, 37 cases have been registered against the accused including the then Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies (DRCS).

The news outlet’s investigation led to the revelation of the fraud in which several officials of cooperative banks were involved in lining their pockets in collusion with middlemen.
