Madhya Pradesh is set to establish its first state-level, modern cooperative dairy testing laboratory in Bhopal, aimed at ensuring high-quality milk and dairy products for consumers.
The laboratory is being set up under the National Dairy Programme for Dairy Development by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, and most of the construction work has been completed.
The laboratory will allow consumers as well as dairy producers to test milk and dairy products for adulteration, eliminating the need to approach multiple centres.
It will be equipped with state-of-the-art machines capable of testing over 100 parameters, including pesticide residues, antibiotics, heavy metals, aflatoxins, fat, protein, carbohydrates, urea, iodine, sugar, salt, and other adulterants.
Funded with Rs 12.40 crore by the central government, the lab will receive accreditation from NABL and recognition from FSSAI. The facility is expected to enhance food safety, consumer awareness, and dairy quality across the state.
Consumers and food producers alike will directly benefit from this initiative, marking a significant step in dairy quality monitoring in Madhya Pradesh.
