In a key development in the cooperative sector, former Union Minister of State and ex-MP Mohanbhai Kundariya has been appointed as Director on the board of Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Limited (BBSSL).
Kundariya’s appointment follows the resignation of Bijendra Singh, who had earlier been nominated to BBSSL from National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India.
Speaking to Indian Cooperative on Monday, Kundariya said he has been appointed as Director on the BBSSL board and will serve for the remaining term aligned with the NAFED board. “Following the resignation of Bijendra Singh, the seat became vacant and I was nominated by the NAFED board,” he stated.
With extensive experience in governance and the cooperative sector, Kundariya’s inclusion is expected to strengthen policy direction in seed production, cooperative outreach, and farmer-centric initiatives.
Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited was established with Union Cabinet approval and registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, on January 25, 2023. It is promoted by leading cooperative institutions such as IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NDDB, and NCDC, with KRIBHCO serving as the chief promoter.
Guided by the vision of Sahakar Se Samriddhi, BBSSL aims to emerge as a leading national seed cooperative, promoting indigenous seed varieties and empowering farmers through cooperative principles.
