It was for the first time that Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was connected to the setting up and success of Amul. During his Man Ki Baat programme Prime Minister Narendra Modi said milk cooperative Amul was proof of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s foresightedness, reports UNI.
Son of a farmer Sardar played a major role in taking the freedom movement to the farmers. It was Sardar Patel who was instrumental in the Freedom Movement becoming a powerful force among the farmers.
Today very few of those who see Amul products within the country and abroad are aware of the fact that it was Sardar Patel who had envisioned the founding of the milk cooperative organisation called Amul.”
Gujarat gave it a practical shape in 1942 in Khera district and the world today knows it as Amul.
