Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated the week-long Zo Fair (Aadi Bazaar) at Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall, celebrating the rich tribal heritage, traditional craftsmanship and cooperative entrepreneurship of the Northeast.
Organised jointly by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Mizoram Government’s Cooperation Department, the fair features handcrafted products from artisans across Mizoram and other Northeastern states.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the intricate weaving and handicrafts on display reflect centuries-old traditions and the cultural identity of tribal communities. Despite technological advances and mechanised production, he stressed that handmade tribal products continue to hold immense cultural and artistic value.
Rural Development and Administration Minister Prof. Lalnilawma highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen the cooperative movement as part of the Viksit Mizoram 2047 vision, with a focus on making villages self-reliant.
The fair provides tribal artisans a valuable platform to promote, preserve and market their traditional crafts.
