Ministry applauds Saraswat Bank’s achievements

In a proud moment for the Indian cooperative banking sector, the Ministry of Cooperation has extended special recognition to Saraswat Cooperative Bank, the country’s largest Urban Cooperative Bank (UCB), through its official social media handles.

Lauding the bank’s legacy and innovation, the Ministry posted: “Established in 1918, Saraswat Bank stands as a symbol of India’s proud legacy. With 311 branches and over 350 ATMs across 8 states, it is the largest urban cooperative bank in the country.”

The post further highlighted the bank’s pioneering efforts in technology, noting that Saraswat Bank was the first cooperative bank in India to launch a mobile app for online account opening.

Its achievements on the global and national stage were also celebrated. The bank has been named among Forbes’ World’s Best Banks consecutively from 2020 to 2023 and was honored with the IBA’s Best Technology Bank award in 2022. It also holds the 68th position in the list of the world’s top 300 cooperative institutions.

Beyond banking, the Ministry applauded Saraswat Bank’s commitment to social welfare, pointing out that it has donated a total of USD 4.1 million to healthcare institutions as part of its CSR initiatives.
