Maharashtra’s cabinet minister for irrigation and water resources, Jayant Patil thanked Sangli District Central Cooperative Bank for contributing towards the Chief Minister Relief fund.
Patil wrote on his twitter wall, “Today, Sangli District Central Cooperative Bank handed over a cheque of Rs 2.25 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief fund for fighting against the Coronavirus. Thank you Dilippatya Patil, Chairman of the Bank and all the Board of Directors, Staff for their contribution”.
The cheque was handed over to the Minister at the bank’s headquarter on Friday. During the cheque giving ceremony the bank Chairman Dilip Pati, Director Balaso Dattatraya Honmore and others were present.
Talking to Indian Cooperative correspondent the bank Chairman Patil said, “In order to help the government fight against the coronavirus, the bank has contributed Rs 2.25 crore out of which Rs 15 lakh was contributed by employees from their one day’s salary”.
“The bank is also active in distributing the food packets among the needy and also distributing masks, sanitizers and protective gear among the common public”, he informed.
He further added that, in the current situation, the bank also launched two mobile ATM vans to offer the services available at normal ATMs.
As soon as the Maharashtra CM appealed to people to donate money towards the relief fund, Latur District Cooperative Bank was one of the first leading DCCBs of the state to contribute towards the relief fund. The bank contributed Rs 1.11 crore towards the CM Relief fund on 31st March.
The Sangli DCCB has a business mix of over Rs 11,500 crore and has 219 branches across the district. The bank has earned a gross profit of Rs 92 crore in the 2019-2020 financial year.
Maharashtra has topped in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country and Sangli district of the state listed in the Orange Zone.
