On National Milk Day, Amul MD Jayen Mehta said the Indian dairy cooperative model, built on farmers’ strength and Dr. Verghese Kurien’s vision, is poised to expand globally, says a report in ANI.
With India already producing one-fourth of the world’s milk, the government’s White Revolution 2.0 (2024–29) aims to boost output so India can supply one-third of global milk within a decade.
Mehta said Amul’s ranking as the world’s top cooperative in the UN’s International Year of Cooperatives reflects the sector’s power. Recent GST cuts on milk products have further strengthened the dairy chain, reinforcing India’s mission to become the “dairy to the world.”
