The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has been implementing the National Programme for Dairy Development to modernize the dairy sector.
The scheme provides financial assistance for setting up primary chilling infrastructure and quality testing equipment. So far, 5,707 Bulk Milk Coolers with 140.65 lakh litres capacity, 47,785 milk collection and processing units, 7,840 milk analysers, and 7,550 adulteration testing machines have been installed nationwide.
In Gujarat alone, eight projects worth Rs.552.82 crore have been approved, with Rs.246.10 crore released. Mehsana Milk Union received Rs.66.89 crore to upgrade its facilities, including 290 chillers and lab enhancements.
