The Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd., widely known as Sikkim Milk Union, received a Certificate of Appreciation from the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI) for its exceptional service in supplying high-quality milk and dairy products to the Ministry of Defense.
The recognition was conferred during a special ceremony in New Delhi on May 8, 2025, marking NCDFI’s 40-year partnership with the Defense Ministry and the International Year of Cooperatives.
NCDFI Chairman Meenesh Shah lauded the Union’s role in empowering dairy farmers, promoting innovation, and upholding quality. Operating from a small hill state, the Union consistently supplies nutritious dairy products to the armed forces, supporting both national nutrition goals and rural livelihoods.
Its cooperative model has improved farmer incomes, especially for women, and expanded distribution across Sikkim and beyond. The award affirms the Union’s enduring contribution to India’s cooperative and dairy sectors.
