Mamta for co-op profiling in West Bengal

The Mamta government in West Bengal will soon begin preparing a comprehensive a digital database of ‘ cooperative societies in the state, reports Statesman.

Recently as reported in these columns NCUI –the apex cooperative body has also started cooperative profiling with the help of Badrul Hasan, the former ED of NCDC.

Fishcopfed –the apex cooperative body for fishermen is the only cooperative to have come up with detailed data-base, claims its MD B K Mishra.

Speaking to the media, Food and Supplies minister of West Bengal said a digital database would make for transparency.

The planned database will have all details about farmers, land owned by them and details about output and sale, on paddy bought by cooperatives from farmers, the minister noted.
