Makar Sankranti impetus to milk co-ops in Bihar

Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation (Comfed) sold milk and curd worth Rs. 48.50 crore in the state in less than a week during Makar Shankranti -a Hindu festival, reports Times of India.

The Comfed MD Shikha Shrivastava said 6.49 lakh kg of curd and 1.04 crore litres of milk were sold between January 10 and 14.

A source said there had been a significant increase in curd sales this year because of “better quality largely due to the application of a new culture technology in production of curd.

It is worth mentioning that the entire Bihar binges on a morning meal composed of rice flakes, curd, jiggery and cooked vegetables during this festival.
