Maharashtra postpones co-op elections till May 31

Maharashtra has postponed elections to all cooperative societies except those where nominations have already begun or those mandated by court orders.

The postponement, till May 31, 2024, is due to the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. This decision affects over 38,000 cooperative societies.

The state government says staff shortages caused by election duty necessitated the postponement. They aim to ensure a smooth, transparent, and fair election process.
