Maharashtra: Deshmukh’s son accused of co-op scam

Amid pandemonium marked by sloganeering, NCP leader Dhananjay Munde raised the issue of corruption in the Lokmangal Multi-state Cooperative Society controlled by Maharashtra cooperation minister Subash Deshmukh in the legislative council, reports PTI.

Munde”s allegation was that the cooperation minister’s son had founded a separate unit called Lokmangal Products Society that wangled Rs 24 crore from the state government for a project.

Munde charged that Lokmangal Products transferred the project to Lokmangal Multi-State Cooperative Society controlled by the cooperation minister.

Opposition members said the government is protecting the minister involved in corruption. However, rebutting the charges leveled by opposition the minister for dairy development Arjun Kotkar told the house that an inquiry has been ordered and its report is yet to be received.
