Maha to register Women’s Co-ops, award contracts

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that Maharashtra will register women’s cooperative societies and award them contracts to boost their role in trade, commerce and industry.

Speaking at an event in Mumbai, he said women’s cooperatives will also be given rights and shares in state-issued work orders, say media reports.

Fadnavis assured that welfare schemes launched before the 2024 Assembly elections will continue for the next five years.

Stressing women’s role in India’s economic rise, he said they are now empowered to lead beyond households. He also attacked the Opposition for “vote theft” allegations, asserting that women’s support will remain a decisive factor in elections.
