Maha raises limit of interest-free crop loans to Rs 3 lac

The Maharashtra govt has said Rs.60,860 crore out of a total of Rs 1.19 lakh crore to be spent for the agriculture sector in the current fiscal would be given as crop loans to the farmers during the kharif and rabi seasons, reports HT.

Chief minister Udhav Thackray has asked banks including cooperative banks to carry out the disbursement of credit. The government has increased the limit of interest-free crop loans from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.

It is said cooperative banks are invariably ahead of commercial banks in distributing credit among farmers
