The Maharashtra government is considering giving priority to women cooperative societies in the allocation of works currently assigned to labour cooperatives, Minister of State for Cooperation Pankaj Bhoyar said.

According to an official update by the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR), Maharashtra, labour cooperative societies are presently allotted works through various mechanisms, including projects below Rs 10 lakh, e-tendering processes, and works assigned through Zilla Parishad systems.

Speaking at a meeting held at Mantralaya, attended by Sudhir Mungantiwar, the Minister stated that the government is positive about extending such opportunities to women cooperative societies on a priority basis.

He directed that data on works allotted through e-tendering and district-level agencies be compiled at the District Deputy Registrar level, and that an online portal be developed for registration and monitoring.

A committee will be set up to examine the matter and submit its report, following which further action will be taken.
