As part of the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025, the Cooperative Department of UT Ladakh held a review meeting chaired by Additional Registrar Syed Sajjad Qadri to evaluate progress and set a roadmap for cooperative development.

Officials, including Deputy and Assistant Registrars from Leh and Kargil, discussed the implementation of directives from the March 12 SCDC meeting. Key decisions included expediting viability surveys of defunct cooperatives and facilitating their revival.

The proposed establishment of a State Cooperative Bank (StCB) led to plans for a PACS survey. Emphasis was placed on strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), enhancing export potential via NCEL, and improving coordination with SHGs and line departments.

Field staff were directed to organize benchmarking meetings to assess cooperative performance. Awareness campaigns involving youth and community stakeholders will promote cooperative values. The department reaffirmed its commitment to using IYC 2025 as a platform to boost inclusive and sustainable development in Ladakh.
