International Women’s Day was celebrated in a meaningful manner by the Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd. (KSSFCL), with around 140 women from various Souharda cooperatives participating and benefiting from the programme.
The event was inaugurated by Smt. G. Padmavathi, President of the Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation, who highlighted initiatives aimed at women’s economic and social empowerment.
Presiding over the programme, KSSFCL President G. Nanjana Gowda said the federation has been consistently organising such events and promoting Mahila Souharda cooperatives across Karnataka, which now number 186. Managing Director Sri Saranagouda G. Patil delivered the keynote address, noting that five women achievers from diverse fields were honoured, alongside special lectures, an essay competition involving 133 participants, and a health check-up camp.
Among those felicitated were Smt. Varija Jagadish, Smt. Anitha C.P., Smt. Shailaja, Smt. Maitreyee, and Prof. T.R. Leelavathi for their contributions in cooperative, social, and educational sectors. The event concluded with a valedictory address by Smt. Shailaja Thapali, who advocated wider outreach of such programmes across the state.
