The inaugural program of the third batch of the Diploma in Cooperation and Banking Management (DCBM) course, jointly organized by Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University (MGRDPRU), Gadag, and Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd. (KSSFCL), Bengaluru, was conducted online on April 26, 2025.

The program began with a prayer led by Harshaprabha, staff member of KSSFCL. V J Karkun, Training Officer at KSSFCL, welcomed the participants and set the tone for the event. Suresh V Nadagoudar, Registrar and Acting Vice Chancellor of MGRDPRU, inaugurated the program and addressed the participants. He emphasized that the DCBM course is a meaningful opportunity, designed to be pursued alongside regular studies.

Online contact classes are scheduled every Saturday and Sunday, and attendance is mandatory. At the end of the course, semester examinations will be conducted, and those who pass will receive certificates and marks cards issued by the university.

He stressed that any course should not be pursued merely for a degree, but for the knowledge and skills it imparts, which should be practically applied to benefit both individuals and their institutions. He encouraged all participants to make the best use of this opportunity and actively engage with the course content.

Sharanagouda G Patil, Managing Director of KSSFCL, in his introductory remarks, highlighted the evolution of the DCBM course. Initially launched as a six-month program in January 2019 to meet the demands of Souharda Cooperatives, it was later expanded into a one-year course through an agreement with MGRDPRU signed on January 5, 2023. He acknowledged the continuous support and cooperation from the university in making the course more effective.

Patil explained that the course includes eight subjects spread across two semesters. The study material has been revised, and lectures will be delivered by experienced resource persons. The course structure ensures that participants can continue their regular work without disruption while gaining additional qualifications. He urged the students to commit their time and effort to successfully complete the program and take full advantage of this recognized opportunity.

Kavitha R, Training Officer at KSSFCL, proposed the vote of thanks. Senior officials including DGM, AGM, regional officers from KSSFCL, and officers from MGRDPRU also attended the program. A total of 130 students participated in the online inauguration, marking a strong start for the third batch of the DCBM course.
