BRIBEThe anti-corruption bureau on Tuesday arrested a recovery officer with the Tapovan co-operative bank in Kolhapur in Maharashtra for taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 for providing documents related to a loan.

The suspect, identified as Umesh Manohar Mane (43), resident of A ward, Shahaji colony, Shivaji Peth, was arrested following a complaint lodged by Jaydeepsingh Vijaykumar Jadhav, a resident of Mangalwar Peth.

The ACB officials said, Jadhav’s father and uncle had taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh from Tapovan co-operative bank by mortgaging their home on Koshti lane in Mangalwar Peth. The family had returned the money but the recovery officer had allegedly asked them a bribe of Rs 2,000 to give the appropriate documents.

Jadhav agreed to pay the bribe and later registered a complaint with the ACB against the officer, Mane.

ACB officials set trap on Tuesday afternoon and caught Mane while accepting Rs 2,000 from Jadhav at the office of the Tapovan co-operative bank.

The ACB officials have appealed to the people to contact them on phone numbers 020-26122134, 0231-2540989 and on mobile numbers 9404345532, 7775948520 and 9049832872 if they have any complaints against corruption.
