Kerala: Rights Commission raps co-op bank

Kerala human rights commission has not taken kindly to Service Cooperative Bank, Kazhakoottam putting the financial liability of a deceased man on his wife. In a move to recover the loan amount, the bank attached the gratuity and PF of the deceased, reports Times of India.

Cooperative joint registrar has informed the commission that the PF amount of Rs 38,950 and gratuity of Rs 1,65,669 were attached based on the order of special tahsildar. The bank must avoid interest and make her pay the due amount in one-time settlement. After paying the amount, steps must be taken for compassionate employment,” the commission said.
