Kerala: Co-op Society in news for wrong reasons

The Mulloor rural cooperative society and its branches in Kerala are only functioning without proper permission from the state government but also indulging in serious financial irregularities yet the joint registrar of the society has to take any action against them, New Indian Express reports.

There are allegations that the 11 member board of the society has taken loans and carried out other illegal transactions amounting to more than Rs. 1 crore.

Sources say most of the board members are politically affiliated and are using their political power to stop the legal proceedings in the matter, sources said.
