Congress legislator S Ravi has filed his nomination for the Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank board elections, intensifying speculation of an internal power tussle within the state Congress, media reports say.
Ravi, a member of the legislative council and brother-in-law of deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, entered the fray on Friday.
Earlier, chief minister Siddaramaiah’s aide and former minister KN Rajanna also filed his nomination. The contest is being closely watched amid media speculation of rival camps within the party, though the leadership has denied any rift.
The Apex Bank has 21 directors, with the president elected by majority. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on January 17, followed by the presidential election.
