According to a news outlet, Tamil Nadu CM, J Jayalalithaa had made all kinds of promises for the poor on the hustings. Remarkably, immediate after her assumption of power yet again in Chennai, she has begun taking steps to redeem them.
One of the steps is all loans taken by small and medium farmers from banks including cooperative banks will be waived. This is expected to cost the government Rs 5,780 crore, an official statement said.
Among other decisions, 200 units of power will be given free to handloom weavers and 8 gm gold given to women getting married.
