IYC 25: Zimbabwe delegation visits Sumul Dairy

Surat’s Sumul Dairy marked a historic moment as it celebrated its 74th Foundation Day during the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 by hosting a high-level delegation from the Republic of Zimbabwe under the “Chalo Zimbabwe” initiative.

The Zimbabwean delegation was led by Hon’ble Dr. Constantino Chiwenga, Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, accompanied by Raj Modi, Deputy Minister of Industry & Commerce, Hon’ble Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, Deputy Minister of Tourism & Hospitality, and H.E. Mrs. Stella Nkomo, Ambassador of Zimbabwe, along with other senior members.

From India, the gathering included Meenesh Shah, Chairman, NDDB; Mukesh Dave, Export Division, GCMMF; H. R. Patel, Custodian, Sumul Dairy; Arun Purohit, Managing Director, Sumul Dairy; and Nikhil Madrasi, President, SGCCI, among distinguished members of the Chamber.

Discussions centered on the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in launching the International Year of Cooperatives, showcasing India’s robust dairy cooperative model, Amul pattern, and infrastructure. Both sides explored opportunities for trade, livestock development, and technology collaboration.

Vice President Dr. Chiwenga expressed Zimbabwe’s openness to Sumul-Amul’s bakery, dairy, and traditional products, marking the beginning of a promising cooperative partnership for sustainable growth.
