The national apex body of labour cooperatives in the country National Labour Cooperative Federations (NLCF) is making an all-out effort to come out of the red. One of its Directors Ashok Dabas says he is hopeful things would change sooner than later.

Entrusted by the Chairman Sanjiv Kushalkar to fetch business for the co-operative body Dabas has submitted an application for setting up of Atal Incubation Centre called AIC before the Niti Ayog which has advertised seeking application for skill-development centres.

The Atal Incubation Centre – a brain child of NLCF aims to create entrepreneurs in building materials and construction technology. It is a Rs 20 crore project in which we have asked for Rs 10 crore from the govt and the remaining Rs 10 crore would be invested by us, said Dabas.

Patting himself on the back Dabas says” perhaps we are the lone applicant from cooperative sector”. Thanks to our Chairman’s constant pressure we could submit a proposal. He would call me every day to find out the progress which in turn kept us on our feet, said Dabas in the lighter vain.

Highlighting the importance of the submitted project report which is quite voluminous, Dabas said it has the backing of a number of universities including Central University of Haryana, Jind, Delhi College of vocational Studies and Research.

The proposed project envisages a world class training centre with competent trainers. It would churn out entrepreneurs in building materials and construction technology- a field where the country has a severe shortage of skilled manpower, Dabas felt.
