India and Israel have signed a Joint Ministerial Declaration of Intent to strengthen cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture, marking a new phase in their strategic partnership. The declaration was signed on January 14, 2026, during the visit of a high-level Indian delegation led by Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh to Israel for the Second Global Summit on “Blue Food Security: Sea the Future 2026” held in Eilat.

The agreement lays out a comprehensive framework for collaboration in advanced aquaculture technologies, including recirculating aquaculture systems, biofloc, cage culture, aquaponics, mariculture, and seaweed cultivation. It also covers joint research on high-yield species, broodstock development, genetic improvement, pathogen-free seed, and water-efficient aquaculture using Israeli technologies.

The declaration emphasises sustainable fishing practices, technology-based monitoring, capacity building, start-up exchanges, and fisher training. It also seeks to boost bilateral trade and explore new Indo-Israel Centres of Excellence for Fisheries and Aquaculture, strengthening the Blue Economy and food security in both countries.
