India, recently signed a memorandum of interest (MoI) with Sri Lanka for supply of milk and milk products, NCDC sources say. The MoI was inked at the first-ever India International Cooperatives Trade Fair in New Delhi.
National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) said the quantity and prices of dairy products to be supplied to Sri Lanka have yet to be fixed.
Some other cooperatives like Tamil Nadu Milk Cooperative Federation, Puducherry Milk Cooperative Federation and fertiliser company Indian Potash Ltd have also signed a separate pact with the Sri Lanka government for supply of milk, official sources say.
India is the world’s largest milk-producing nation, with around 70 million dairy producers.
