An agreement was jointly signed between Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC), Indo Jordan Chemicals Ltd (IJC), Jordan and Alufluoride Ltd. Visakhapatnam, India to set up a Plant for production of Aluminum Chloride at Eshidiya, Jordan on Wednesday.
It bears recall that the world’s largest fertilizer cooperative IFFCO and Indian Potash Ltd (IPL) has the 37 percent stake in Jordan’s largest mining and chemical firm JPMC. While IPL has bought about 27 per cent stake, IFFCO through its subsidiary Kisan International Trading (KIT) has purchased around 10 per cent in JPMC.
The MoU was signed in Jordan. Besides several international representatives, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi was among those present on the occasion. It was Awasthi who tweeted about the development.
Alufluoride Limited started the project in 1993 for producing Aluminium Fluoride and related products. The project was completed in record time at a cost of Rs.200 million. Trial runs commenced in Nov, 1994 and a quality product was produced during December, 1994. Supplies started immediately thereafter to primary Aluminium smelters.
Indo-Jordan Chemical Company Limited (IJC) was established on a unique concept in which a raw material supplier and a finished product consumer joined hands. This project was successfully implemented with an investment of USD 170 million and commissioned on 1st August 1997, claimed its website.
