IFFCO: MD bats for strengthening agriculture

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi has called for strengthening agriculture globally as it is a sure way of fighting off both hunger and unemployment. Counting population he has tried to motivate his followers pictographically the issue.

Making the revelation that out of seven billion people in the world around four billion of them are still dependent on agriculture, MD says there cannot be a stronger case for strengthening the agricultural sector not only in India but also in the world.

He tweeted” Protect jobs in #agriculture 4 #ZeroHunger as 1.4billion rely on it 4 livelihood in total of 7billion ppl in world.”

Simultaneously ICA has also called for strengthening agriculture and cooperative by launching coopsday logo in which it says “The power to act for a sustainable future – fits into the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in September 2015.”

In a conference of United Nations it was said governments across the world must reorient their policies to pursue sustainable development (SD), so as to avoid past mishaps that led to non-sustainable resource allocation, widening income inequality, and poor public participation, said a United Nations official.
