In a heartfelt note on X, IFFCO’s Former Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi expressed gratitude to all those who supported him during his long career in the fertilizer industry.
“After 58 years in the fertilizer industry, including over 32 years at IFFCO, it has been a privilege to serve across the world and to build lasting friendships beyond my professional journey. I step down from formal responsibilities with immense gratitude, but my commitment to farmers, the nation, and the cause of environmental protection will always remain,” he wrote.
Excerpts from his letter
Dear Friends,
After dedicating 58 years to the fertilizer industry, 39 of which I had the privilege to serve as Chief Executive of esteemed organizations such as Pyrites, Phosphates and Chemicals Limited (PPCL), Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF), and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), I have decided to superannuate from my role at IFFCO on 31st July 2025, at the age of 80. It has been an honour to serve IFFCO for over 32½ years.
I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support and cooperation I have received throughout my professional journey. Over the years, I have been fortunate to forge enduring friendships across diverse fields, art and culture, painting, music, wildlife, as well as among engineers, administrators, Hon’ble Ministers, Hon’ble Presidents, Hon’ble Prime Ministers, HM The Kings, and HM The Sultans.
These relationships have enriched both my professional and personal life beyond measure. I will always cherish my association with each one of you, farmers, cooperators, professionals, joint venture partners, subsidiaries, and associates of IFFCO.
Though I am stepping down from formal responsibilities, I remain committed to serving the farmers, cooperators and the nation, especially in the field of environmental protection. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime should you feel I can be of assistance. My doors will always remain open for my dear friends.
With warm regards and best wishes,
Udai Shanker Awasthi
