The Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Madurai, in collaboration with Thoothukudi District, Tiruchendur Circle, Vellalanvinilai Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS), conducted a Cooperative Awareness and Member Education Programme on Monday.
The programme was organized under the guidance of K. Sathia Kumar Sam Michael, Director of ICM, Madurai, with a focus on strengthening cooperative awareness and exploring opportunities for growth in the cooperative sector.
Dr. V. Alagupandian, Lecturer, ICM Madurai, spoke on the fundamental values and principles of the Cooperative Movement.
He highlighted the importance of the new National Cooperative Policy 2025, which emphasizes modernization, digital inclusion, youth participation, and the creation of new opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurship in the cooperative sector. He also shared details of various schemes and initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, aimed at supporting farmers and rural cooperatives.
The event was coordinated by Mrs. R. Sakthi Pemila, Sub-Registrar of Tiruchendur Circle. S. Sorna Selvam, Cooperative Union Assistant, delivered the welcome address, while A. Sam Daniel, Cooperative Sub-Registrar/Secretary of Thoothukudi District Cooperative Union, addressed members on loan facilities as well as their rights and responsibilities.
Edwin Devasirvadham, Secretary of Sathankulam Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society, and Benisker, Secretary of Arasoor Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society, delivered felicitation speeches.
The society’s secretary, Mrs. Latha, led the proceedings and delivered the vote of thanks, while Mrs. Malathi, Society Secretary, played a key role in organizing the programme.
