The Indian Co-operative Credit Society Limited (ICCSL) held its Annual General Body Meeting at South Avenue Ground, Bengaluru, reinforcing the collective strength and trust of its cooperators. More than 12,000 members from five states and two Union Territories participated, making it one of the largest cooperative gatherings in the country.
The meeting was inaugurated by Suresh Gowda, Joint Registrar, Legal Cell of Cooperative Societies, Government of Karnataka. During the session, accounts for the year 2024-25 and plans for 2025-26 were presented. All seven agenda items placed before the house were passed unanimously amid enthusiastic applause.
In his address, ICCSL Chairman Dr. Sojan V. Avirachan announced that the society achieved the milestone of one million members during 2024-25, a feat unmatched by any other credit society in India. He stated that ICCSL has a workforce of 1,500 staff members and successfully paid Rs 1,800 crore towards premature deposits in the last year.
Dr. Avirachan outlined plans to expand operations to North India, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. He also highlighted major projects such as a modern wedding convention centre at Varkala, a 100-acre township in Kasaragod, a housing project in Vadodara, and a super shop near the Kollam branch.
The Society’s Acting CEO, Meenu John, presented the financial accounts for the year 2024-25, along with the proposed projects for 2025-26. The members unanimously passed all seven agenda items discussed during the meeting with thunderous applause, the press release from the Society said.
Emphasising social responsibility, he noted ICCSL’s educational initiatives through ICCS College and Anantha IAS Academy, including scholarships worth Rs 5 crore for 5,000 civil services aspirants.
Managing Director R. Venkitraman, General Manager Nithin Kumar Jha, Deputy General Managers, and senior advisors also addressed the gathering.
