Participating in a discussion organized by CII Western Region Council GCMMF MD R.S.Sodhi said dairy sector claims a significant part of food industry in the country counting around $ 100 million, reports Financial Express.
Sodhi further said organized segment in the dairy is producing 9 crore litre, and in few years, it would produce 30 crore litre and would generate 1.2 crore new jobs. According to his estimate, the production of l lakh litre milk generates around 6,000 jobs — 5,000 in rural areas and 1,000 in urban areas.
The size of food industry in India is $300 billion. Ela Bhatt of SEWA fame, who was also a speaker lamented that the current education system is not encouraging thinking among the students.
