While putting highlights on several initiatives taken by the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank in the context of business diversification, its Managing Director Sharwan Manta said there is an urgent need for diversification because the share of cooperative banks in agriculture business is reducing.

“The share of cooperative banks has reduced from 16.7 in 2015-2016 to 13.0 percent in 2021-22 but there is an increase of 5 percent in commercial banks. In 2015-16, the share of commercial banks in agri business was 70.2 percent which increased to 76.0 percent in 2021-22. It is a matter of great concern we all have to think on these issues”, Manta added.

He further added, the cooperative banks should focus on embracing new technologies as well as attracting young customers. We have diversified our business in Non-Fund Income: Insurance Business and tied up insurance companies. We are providing door-step banking facilities.

Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank launched new loan schemes for purchase & development of land for agricultural purposes. The other scheme launched by the bank is ‘Sashakt Mahila Rin Yojana’, which is a collateral free scheme for women.

To achieve the goal , staff of bank should encouraged by incentive for good achievements and low one should be penalized. Bank should online it’s products by strengthening IT and all documentation is to be done by system (by printing) because manual documentsation is very time consuming as well as problematic due to cuttings, overwriting as well unreadable. Loan schemes on Bank are also online on website and if competitive one can choose and applied online and it is the bank to accept or reject the proposal with logic.Uploading of loan data should be ensured on all CICS which increase the updation of CICS score ( one can say CIBIL score) and work is to be entrusted to MIS Strengthening of IT is strengthening of all products of Bank.We learn from Audit and NABARD INSPECTION which strengthening us rather Abusing them. Bankers should check each and every calculation /workings as well as execution of all applications of DATA CENTER with the help of IT team to minimize the income leakage by strengthening MIS.
Bank should check the working of each employee and check whether they even justify their job assignment or even say salary.(goal with estt.) How we survive when system is not even charging proper intt. which we have faced in 2022-23 and half year 2023-24. DEAF too is problematic and Why not the instructions of HO is not taken seriously WHEN HO has isssued strict instruction. Our system is not intelligent. We put value of interest.@6,25 or 625. We are blind as we feed one mobile number n times in system. This is little to tell our weaknesses. Please come together to survive our Bank.
