Honouring By-laws: Nepal co-ops in trouble

The Cooperative Division Office, Lahan, in Nepal has cancelled registration of 16 cooperatives that have not held AGMs, submitted monthly expenses, annual progress reports and conducted audit works, reports The Himalayan Times.

The cooperatives, affected include Kalika Consumers’ Cooperative, Sankar Consumers’ Cooperative, Ganesh Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Santosh Consumers’ Cooperative, among other cooperatives.

A cooperative official was quoted as saying, the step was taken after the cooperatives failed to furnish details of their activities despite repeated directives.
